Also known as California dates, this variety has centuries-old heritage. The first Medjool date palm offshoots were imported from Morocco to California in 1927. Today, all Medjool dates in the USA, are descendants of the original eleven offshoots cultivated in California. From these, six still remain and are referred to as the Big Six.
